You will now be able to assign your releases a pre-order date, allowing customers to preview and purchase your tracks prior to the official live / release date. Sales within 14 days of the live / release date will count towards your first live day in chart positions, making it possible to really work your track in the lead up and boost your sales.
WHAT IS THE PRE-ORDER FUNCTION?
The pre-order function allows customers to preview and buy your tracks on Traxsource prior to the official Traxsource live/release date. Customers who pre-order your track will not receive the actual download until the official Traxsource live/release date and will receive notification via email when the item is available to download via their Downloads page.
Please note that this new “Pre-Order” function is separate to our “Promo / Exclusive” releases but is designed to work hand in hand.
The pre-order function is optional and no action is required should you not want to make your tracks available for pre-order.
WHY SHOULD I MAKE MY MUSIC AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER, HOW WILL IT BENEFIT ME?
Setting up pre-order on your release allows you to build traction and excitement around your record before it's even available. You can start promoting your track on social channels with the Traxsource pre-order link in order to start accumulating sales which will count towards your first live day chart positions. The pre-order link is a valuable asset to pass on to your press and promo teams to aid campaigns. Pre-Orders must be set up on a release by release basis, the default setting is 'off'.
HOW DOES THE PRE-ORDER FUNCTION AFFECT MY CHART POSITION?
Pre-order tracks have equal weighting to regular orders when it comes to chart positioning, if purchased 14 days before release. Pre-Orders purchased in this window will count towards first day of release sales, anything purchased prior to this window will not be counted towards sales charts. This means your record is selling and charting before it is even available, giving it an edge on non-pre-order releases.
WHEN SHOULD I SET UP MY PRE-ORDER?
A pre-order period can be any length you like, but only sales accumulated within two weeks of release will contribute to sales charts. If you are using the pre-order function, we recommend making your track available 14 days before live / release date, thereby keeping all orders eligible towards first week chart positioning and gaining maximum pre-release exposure. To take full advantage of everything Traxsource offers (including Pre Order, Promo, Weekend Weapons Placement Etc) an ideal set-up would look like this:
Pre-Order Date: Friday March 10th
Promo Publish Date (start of exclusive period): Friday March 24th
Release Date (end of exclusive period): Friday April 7th
WHAT IF I NEED TO CHANGE MY RELEASE DATE?
Should you need to bring your release date forward after setting up a pre-order, this will not affect any sales made in the pre-order period. If you should need to push your release date back, thereby extending your pre-order window (i.e. to longer than 14 days prior to release), the standard rules apply and only sales made within 14 days prior to release will be eligible for consideration in chart positions.
CAN I SET UP AN INDIVIDUAL TRACK FOR PRE-ORDER?
No, at this time we support full-release pre-order only. When setting up a pre-order, all tracks in the release must be made available for pre-order.
CAN I ADD MY PRE-ORDER TRACK TO MY DJ CHARTS?
It is not possible to add pre-order tracks to DJ or user charts at this time, pre-order tracks will also not feature in Traxsource charts during the pre-order period (e.g. weekend weapons).
WHAT DO MY CUSTOMERS ACTUALLY GET?
Your customers will be able to purchase the track via the pre-order page and hear a preview of the track on site (if you do not want audio previews to be available to your customers, then the pre-order function is not appropriate for your release, we are unable to suppress the audio previews on site). Customers will receive an email confirmation when tracks are officially released and are able to download the full track from Traxsource. Pre-order tracks are visibly labelled with a purple banner and purple ‘Pre-Order’ buy buttons to avoid confusion, as well as a note in their cart.
PRICING
Tracks made available for pre-order at this time will be retailed at the same price points as a regular release.
HOW DOES ACCOUNTING WORK FOR PRE-ORDERS?
Pre-order sales show up on your statements in the month they were purchased, as if it were a standard sale.
