AI Scan Dispute FAQ

Label & Artist Knowledge Base. Common questions about disputing an AI classification on a track. For the formal terms, see the AI Scan Dispute Process.

Does Traxsource have a fair review process?

Yes, we recognize that AI detection is not a perfect science, so we have developed a very straightforward dispute process. Be assured that we act on every dispute raised and are committed to getting it right. The questions below explain how the process works.

What is a scan dispute?

If you believe a track was classified incorrectly by our AI detection, a scan dispute is how you ask us to take another look. For example, a track marked AI-Assisted or Inconclusive that you believe should be Human-Made. We act on every dispute raised, and we are committed to getting it right.

What can I dispute?

You can dispute a track's AI-Assisted classification, either because you disagree with it, or because you believe the track should be Human-Made and it has not been.

Who can file a dispute?

Only a contracted Traxsource content provider can file a dispute. That is the account holder with a direct, licensed relationship with Traxsource. They can file on behalf of the label, artist, remixer, or producer of the track.

I'm an artist with no label and no direct relationship with Traxsource. What do I do?

Go to your label. Your label contacts its distributor, and the distributor, as the contracted content provider, files the dispute on your behalf. Disputes always come in through the content provider who delivers your music to Traxsource.

How do I start a dispute?

Disputes are started from inside the Traxsource label and content system. Open the Active Releases panel, click the View link, find the track in the track list, and click the "Dispute Scan" link next to it. That is the only way to open one, and we do it that way so every dispute comes from a verified rights holder. A dispute cannot be opened by email or any outside channel.

What happens after I file a dispute?

We review everything we hold for the track, we listen to it ourselves, and where needed we run one or more additional scans from other providers. If we need more, we may ask you for evidence such as multitrack recordings, stems, video recordings, or other production elements to verify authenticity. Anything you send is used only to verify that track.

How long does it take?

Usually one to five business days, depending on how complex the dispute is.

How will I hear the result?

By email, in reply to your original dispute.

Can a track be disputed more than once?

Each track can be disputed once. You can dispute it again only if you have new evidence.

Is the decision final?

Yes. Traxsource makes the final determination on every dispute. We take every dispute seriously and do everything we can to get it right, and once our review is complete the decision is final.

Where can I read the full terms?

The formal terms are set out in our AI Scan Dispute Process, which sits alongside this FAQ in the AI Transparency section.
