Label & Artist Knowledge Base. The formal terms. For a plain-language overview, see the AI Scan Dispute FAQ in this section.
1. Definition
A scan dispute is the process by which a rights holder may challenge the classification made by Traxsource's AI detection. This process sets out what may be disputed, who may raise a dispute, how it is raised and decided, and the terms that apply.
2. What may be disputed
A rights holder may dispute a track's AI-Assisted classification, where they disagree with the classification, or where they believe the track should be Human-Made and it is not.
3. Eligibility
Scan disputes may only be submitted by a contracted Traxsource content provider. A content provider may submit a dispute on behalf of the label, artist, remixer, or producer of the disputed track. For the purposes of Section 14(c) of the Terms of Service, the contracted content provider is the Account Holder.
4. How a dispute is initiated
To ensure that a dispute originates from a verified rights holder, all disputes must be initiated from within the Traxsource label and content system. A dispute may not be opened by email or any other outside channel.
5. Review and determination
On receiving a dispute, Traxsource will review all data held for the affected track, consult human listening, and may apply a third or fourth scan from an additional provider. Traxsource may request further evidence, including multitrack recordings, stems, video recordings, or other production elements, to verify authenticity. Any materials provided are used solely to verify the track in question and for no other purpose.
6. Outcome
Traxsource will either uphold or amend its original findings. Traxsource reserves the right to make the final determination, and its decision is final.
7. Timeframe
Disputes are typically resolved within one to five business days, depending on complexity.
8. Notification
All correspondence regarding the outcome is sent by email, in reply to the original dispute.
9. Repeat disputes
A track may be disputed once. A track may be disputed again only where new evidence is provided.
10. Bad-faith disputes
Traxsource may decline to process disputes that are repeated without new grounds, frivolous, or submitted in bad faith. Knowingly false disputes may result in further action.
11. Relationship to the Terms of Service
This process forms part of, and operates under, the Traxsource Terms of Service (Section 14, AI Policy; dispute standing under Section 14(c)). Where this process and the Terms of Service differ, the Terms of Service govern.
12. Amendment
Traxsource may amend or update this process at any time, as needed, without prior notice.
